From her offices in Spokane, attorney Rebecca M. Coufal helps clients in Washington and Idaho who are seeking Social Security benefits. For nearly 20 years, she has helped claimants file for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, as well as represented clients during administrative hearings and subsequent appeals when initial claims are denied.

Ms. Coufal has extensive experience in this field, having worked as the second staff attorney between 1987 and 1989 for the Magistrate Judge at the U.S. Distrinct Court for the Eastern District of Washington, where she regularly researched and drafted decisions of claimants' appeals. She was also a temporary law clerk for United States Magistrate Judge James B. Hovis between 1987 and 1989. Recognized in the Spokane area for her Social Security law expertise, Ms. Coufal maintains active memberships in the Spokane County Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives.

After transferring from Occidental College, Ms. Coufal earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1969, then served as a school board member of Washington's Summit Valley School District #202 from 1974 to 1977. Ms. Coufal earned her Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1986, graduating cum laude. She is admitted to practice in Washington state courts and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington. Ms. Coufal was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1987.
