Consult our frequently asked questions for additional information.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) Benefits

SSDI benefits are available to individuals who have suffered a disability which prevents them from working for at least one year or which may result in death. An additional requirement for eligibility is a minimum number of work credits, which are based on career hours worked and Social Security taxes taken from paychecks. For many individuals, SSDI benefits provide an essential form of income that can help make ends meet. We can provide guidance throughout the filing process, as well as representation in the event you need an administrative law hearing or wish to appeal a claim denial. While the appeals process can last for months or even years, we always strive to resolve our clients' claims as swiftly and efficiently as possible. For more details about the requirements for these benefits, visit our SSDI benefits page.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Benefits

Unlike SSDI benefits, SSI benefits do not require a disability or a minimum number of work credits. SSI benefits are available to individuals who are elderly and/or blind or disabled and do not have enough income or resources to get by. The amount of income and resources (things you own) depends on your state of residence and can also be affected by whether you are married or a student. If you have not contributed enough to Social Security throughout your life by paying taxes on paychecks, you may still be eligible for SSI benefits. SSI benefits are a needs tested program, so you will be required to provide documentation showing your lack of income and resources. We have the legal expertise to help you apply for these benefits and appeal if your initial claim is denied. For more information, visit our SSI benefits page.
